Basquane is a kingdom between a rock and a hard place, it is between Ameriat and Rog Nor Tuon, and bordering on the Wild Lands. If being between the two most expansionist empires wasn’t enough, the raiding savages from the northern Wild Lands are a constant concern also. However Basquane isn’t entirely defenseless to the other empires, its lands are very defensible, it has the largest population of elves living within its borders, and they can be very useful allies in its forests. Basquane also has very good relations with both Acirema, and Higher Vale. The senate of Basquane resides in the capitol city of Striesville, and is an elected body of 100 senators, and the Voce’ de Senate (voice of the senate/Chairman) who leads the voting, and holds the tiebreaker vote. Striesville is one of the most extraordinary cities in the entire realm; it was built on the ground and in the trees, spanning a large number of islands on the southern edge of the Burning Lake. The city is connected by a vast array of bridges from island to island and tree-to-tree, the elves used their vast knowledge of nature magic to create huge buildings within the trunks of the massive trees. Most districts of the city are also lit by amazing numbers of gaslight lamps. additionally many large or well off buildings have indoor gasworks; these gasworks are fed by a massive pipe systems throughout the city, which is fed by pipes to the marshes east of the city. The natural gas reserve responsible for the cities heat and light is also what gives Burning Lake it’s well earned name, as often large gouts of flame and steam will erupt from the waters.
