Higher Vale

Government: House of Representatives
Population: Halfling-Dwarf

Higher Vale is one of the most recent empires to come into existence on Valenthal, it was originally a part of the Fevelin kingdom, but as part of a rebellion/civil war it declared its independence 300 years ago. It’s first 150 years was spent repelling attackers from all sides first Fevelin retook large areas of the Vale’s eastern borderlands spending thirty years fighting for it’s territories, the only thing that allowed Higher Vale to eventually win the war was a continual supply of troops and aid from Cantenrel, of course that changed as soon as Fevelin went home, within the next couple years Cantenrel was massing armies on Higher Vales western border, however that little war barely lasted a year before aid from Acirema In the form of a large Arial assault on most of Cantenrel Forces forced them to reconsider the war effort.

For several years things were peaceful until land disputes started with the dwarves of Cragmoor, the disputes slowly escalated to raids, and eventually into an all out war that crippled Higher Vale and almost turned the rest of the realms against the Dwarven Kingdoms. Peace finally settled on Higher Vale, and the ruler of the kingdom opened up tax-free operations, and land grants for any guild that wished to relocate into Higher Vale. In the next 10 years most of the continental guilds had moved their headquarters to Cliffhomme and had arrange contracts of support with the Higher Vale House of representatives. Since that time no country has been willing to invade Higher Vale, for fear of repercussions from the various guilds. A side effect of the peace accords signed with the Dwarven Kingdoms is that many Dwarves have relocated to Higher Vale. The vale has the second largest population of Gnomes on Valenthal. As a strange twist of fate (or politics) Higher Vale and Gunder Thorn have grown to have the closest ties of any two kingdoms on the continent.
